I believe in ...
- evidence-based care
- every person's right to choose the birth experience that is right for them
- "a doula for every person who wants one"
my mission
- To give parents resources and tools to make informed decisions
- To assist parents in decision-making with their care team
- To support birthing people physically and emotionally throughout labor and delivery, and collaborate with the partner or other support person to ensure a positive experience
core values
HEALTH EQUITY - I believe that health is a human right and recognize that there are barriers to health for certain populations. I will listen, respect, and believe your experiences, and provide culturally-aware services.
COLLABORATION - As a doula, I am a member of your team of providers, which includes the professionals who help you deliver your baby, nurses and hospital staff, and/or your partner. Maintaining positive relationships with your birth team is essential to providing optimal care and a positive experience.
PROFESSIONALISM - I treat my doula business as a job (because it is my job!), and commit to providing dependable, quality, and honest services. I continue to stay up-to-date with the latest research and further my education through courses, certifications, and other experiences. I uphold the highest practice and ethical standards, as outlined in the DONA Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics.
NON-JUDGEMENT - There is no "right" way to give birth or "correct" answer to decisions about your care. I have no agenda except to help you have a positive birth experience - whatever that means for you.
BIRTH EXPERIENCE MATTERS - Most parents agree that having a healthy baby and health mother are the two top priorities of a birth. I believe that the experience also matters, and that childbirth is a key life event that stays with a birthing person throughout their life.
